A Question For All The Web Experts

I am looking for some input as I am curious more than anything about something.  I have been trying to figure out how to drive more comments and traffic to my other blog site and nothing seems to be working.  I was looking at some other sites out there and I was thinking something does not look right.  Maybe a few of you out there can help me understand a few things.

One of the sites I was looking at was not great.  The content was okay, but the number of comments was off the charts.  What was really odd is that on some pages that had little to no comment, just links there were HUNDREDS of comments.  I started to ask myself if the comments were even real or if they were fabricated somehow to help drive up the readership.

Lastly the site did not even rank in google what I did searches for the content that it had posted, so I really started to get confused.  I consider myself a pretty smart person, but looking into some of this has gotten me asking more questions than answers.  What could possibly be driving all those comments on a low ranked google site with very little decent content?  If anyone has any idea, I’d love to hear them just for giggle because something just didn’t seem right to me.  Anyhow I was just thinking I’d ask what might be going on if anyone had any ideas.

    I certainly don’t claim to be any kind of expert when it comes to getting comments on a blog or how other people do it. But this blog has some tremendous insight into how to improve your own site to achieve higher traffic and more comments.
